Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an extraordinary place that sets out to challenge, inspire, inform and delight. An international centre for modern and contemporary art, changing displays of exhibitions and projects are sited in 500 acres of historic gardens and parkland as well as four indoor galleries. The modern Visitor Centre provides all-weather facilities including a large restaurant, café bar, shop and auditorium. Open daily 10-5 in winter 10-6 in summer.

Wentworth Castle
Welcome to Yorkshire's best kept secret.  One of the most important historic gardens in the North of England, this hidden gem from the 18th century opened fully for the first time on a daily basis in May 2007.  Many of the 26 listed buildings and monuments across the only Grade 1 listed parkland and garden are being repaired and opened for visitors. With its atmospheric views, woodland walks and majestic follies - including a dramatic viewing platform at the top of a castle folly 600 feet above sea level - there is something for everyone to enjoy in the gardens all year 'round.  Refreshments are served in the new visitor centre café, Open daily (April – September, 10am – 5pm, last admission 4.15pm). (October – March, 10am – 4pm, last admission 3pm)

Chatsworth House
Chatsworth is one of Britain’s best loved historic houses and estates offering something for everyone to enjoy, from famous works of art, young animals and the spectacular fountains in the garden to the finest shopping, food and drink and many miles of free walks. The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is set in the magnificent landscape of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park.  The house, garden, farmyard, gift shops and restaurant are now closed, and will re-open on Wednesday 12 March 2008.   Pictures of Chatsworth courtesy of Gary Rogers and Bridget Flemming.

Magna Science Adventure Centre
Everyone enjoys an opportunity to play, so everyone young or old can enjoy creating their own adventure at Magna. Go prepared as Magna is a 'coats on' experience. On cold days we recommend you wear warm clothing.  Magna is closed on the following days in January and February Jan 2008: 1st, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and Feb 2008: 4th.

RSPB Old Moor Reserve
RSPB Old Moor is one of the RSPB's Dearne Valley Reserves. With its extensive visitor facilities, it is a fantastic place to watch wildlife.  There are five hides out on the reserve and one overlooking the bird-feeding garden. There are two viewing platforms in the pond and picnic area.  Two easy-going trails give excellent views of wildlife on the reserve.  Opening Times; 1 November - 31 January: visitor centre open 9.30 am - 4 pm. Gates open until 4.30 pm. 1 February - 31 October: visitor centre open 9.30 am - 5 pm. Gates open until 5.15 pm.

Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds
Home to an incredible collection of arms and armour with exhibitions such as war, hunting, oriental, tournament.  Open daily from 10:00 to 17.00.

Eureka
Eureka! The Museum for Children in Halifax, West Yorkshire is the first and foremost hands-on children's museum in the UK and is designed especially for 0-11 year olds. With more than 400 'must-touch' exhibits and a full programme of events and activities, you'll be amazed at the fun things you can do!  The museum is open every day from 10am-5pm.

Sheffield Winter Gardens 
One of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK during the last hundred years has created a stunning green world in the heart of the city.  Adjacent to the Peace Gardens and the Millennium Galleries the Winter Garden provides visitors with a unique pedestrian link through the city centre.  There are more than 2,500 plants from around the world creating a superb display.  The Winter Garden is open:  Daily from 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs.  Admission:  Free
